GALLARIFIC DOCUMENTATION
Thank you for choosing Gallarific. It was programmed and tested over an eleven month period, and it was designed to be extremely easy to use - even for beginners. If you have any suggestions for Gallarific, please visit the contact page and let us know. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
System Recommendations
Gallarific will function best with Web site hosting accounts featuring:
- PHP version 4.1 or higher
- MySQL version 3.23 or higher
- The GD and zip libraries for PHP
Installation Instructions
- After downloading the Gallarific ZIP file, unzip the package in an empty folder on your local computer.
- Open up gconfig.php with a text editor like NotePad or WordPad, and replace the sample information with the following details:
- Gallery path / URL (e.g. "http://www.your-site.com/gallery" where "your-site.com" is your actual domain name)
- MySQL server (usually "localhost"), database name, database user name, and database password
If you aren't sure about your database connection details, you should contact your hosting provider for more information.
- Save the gconfig.php file.
- Upload all the files to your site by FTP or by using your hosting account's file management feature. Your host should be able to offer assistance with this if you are installing Gallarific yourself.
- CHMOD the /photos folder and gconfig.php to 757.
- Open http://www.your-site.com/gallery/install.php in your browser (where "your-site.com" is your actual domain name). This should then automatically begin to set up the tables needed for your gallery. If there is an error, double check your gconfig.php file, and try again. If it fails again, please go to the contact us page with as much data as you can gather.
- Note the password given to you.
- The install script should then send you to the login page. Sign in with the username admin and the password generated during the installation. You can then click on 'Users' to change the password.
Upgrade Instructions
- Before upgrading from the Free Version to the Paid Version, make a backup of all the files currently in the photo gallery folder (e.g. /gallery/) on your server.
- After you unzip the files for the Paid Version, upload all the files ending in ".php" in the /gallery/ and /gallery/gadmin/ folders to the corresponding folders on your site. Do not upload gconfig.php though.
- Then you will need to upload ONLY the new "stats.php" and "links.php" files in /gallery/themes/default/ to your /gallery/themes/your_theme/ folder on the server. Do not upload any other PHP files in your theme directory, or you will overwrite your customizations.
- That should work for you. If not, revert back to your backup files, and try again. If you still cannot get it to work, please contact us.
Troubleshooting
Error: There are misc. MySQL errors after installing Gallarific.
Solution: Double check the MySQL connection details in gconfig.php. Most installation errors occur because of typos or omissions in gconfig.php.
Error: After installing Gallarific, the images in the interface (e.g. header graphic, bars, buttons, etc.) are not displayed.
Solution: Be sure to update the $GLOBALS["gallarific_path"] line in gconfig.php with the correct URL to your installation.
Error: Some of the encrypted files in Gallarific were tampered with, and now the software automatically redirects to http://www.gallarific.com/warning.php.
Solution: Gallarific has specific sections of code that are encrypted for copyright protection. If these files are tampered with, the software will generate an error. The original files from the ZIP download must be re-uploaded to your site to fix this error.
Template Changes
You can customize the entire look of your photo gallery using Gallarific's built-in template editor. After you login to the control panel click the "Presentation" tab and click the "Theme Editor" sub menu to get started.
